Sstp-client

SSTP is a VPN tunnel which provides PPP and L2TP traffic with SSL3.0. SSTP's good sides are that it uses port 443 (https) so it works over all firewalls and transmit servers. SSTP is Microsoft's protocol, but it also works on Linux and Mikrotik RouterOS machines.

In this manual we instruct you on how to install SSTP client on Ubuntu.

Installation

You need to download and install the SSTP-Client packages.

SSTP-client from the directory:

x86

• libsstp-client0_1.0.9_i386.deb
• sstp-client_1.0.9_i386.deb

x64

• libsstp-client0_1.0.9_amd64.deb
• sstp-client_1.0.9_amd64.deb

Network manager from the directory:

x86

• network-manager-sstp_0.9.4-0ubuntu2_i386.deb
• network-manager-sstp-gnome_0.9.4-0ubuntu2_i386.deb

x64

• network-manager-sstp_0.9.6-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
• network-manager-sstp-gnome_0.9.6-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

Install the packages with the command (also found in the download directory):

 sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Connecting with Ubuntu

• 

  Define SSTP profile

• 

  Define the same settings as you would for PPTP but put a check in the "Ignore Certificate Warnings" box.

• 

  Allow MSCHAP-v2 proofing

If you're using Xubuntu you need to install some additional packages.

Other VPN software may interfere with SSTP proofing.
