Irssi/en

Irssi is a text based IRC client software. It is very popular.

Installation

Installing irssi is really simple using package manager. It can also be found on Debian DVD3.

 aptitude install irssi

We recommend using irssi with GNU Screen so we will install that as well:

 aptitude install screen

Usage

Irssi is started up with the following command:

 screen irssi

When you return to the server, you can easily get back to your irssi session.

 screen -r

Connecting to an IRC server:

 /server irc.server.org

Disconnecting a connection to an IRC server

/disconnect

List IRC servers

/server list

Connect to network

/connect network

Join channel

 /join #channel
