The switch works normally without any changes or configuration in your network. You can, define all kinds of functions and features for it, though. We start configuring the switch by turning it on and connecting to it with a console cable.
We open a terminal software (for example PuTTY) and connect using the COM port, the port in your PC the console cable is connected to.
In packet tracer you can click on switches unless the feature is blocked.
